FAQ

Straight answers.

How it works, what it costs, and what we will and won't do with your name on it. Anything else, ask chris@postmarketed.com.

Getting started

What's the free preview?

Email us one photo from a job you wrapped up this month. We'll turn it into a finished post with your name on it (and your license #, if you're a contractor), and show you exactly how it'll look on your page. No charge, nothing to sign, and nothing is posted.

Do I have to log in to anything?

No. You connect your pages once, with your permission. After that, you just email photos.

Do you need my passwords?

No. You connect your pages once through Facebook's and Instagram's own login and can disconnect any time. We never see your passwords.

What do you need from me to start?

One message with the basics: your business name as it should appear on posts, your license number and state if you're a contractor, your logo, your color, your phone and website, the towns you work in, the services you want pushed, and the email addresses your photos will come from.

Where do you work?

Wherever you do. Postmarketed is built for contractors and local businesses in Maryland, DC, Virginia and beyond. For a contractor, the license number is written the way your state writes it.

What trades do you post for?

Decks, roofs, gutters, siding, windows, fences, garage doors, masonry, concrete, patios, paving, docks, pools, basements, kitchens, baths, remodels, new homes, painting, floors, insulation, heating and cooling, plumbing and electrical. And local businesses: auto shops, detailers, tire shops, salons, barbers, nail salons, groomers, dog trainers, gyms, fitness studios, restaurants, cafes, bakeries and food trucks. Find yours. If your work shows in a photo, ask.

Photos

How do I send photos?

Email them to photos@postmarketed.com, straight from your phone's photo app: tap Share, then Mail. Before, after, mid-build. Photos come in by email only.

What photos work best?

Three to five from one job is plenty: a before, the work in progress and the finished job. Add the town and one line on what you did. iPhone photos work as they are.

How do you know the photos are mine?

By the email address they come from. Tell us which addresses you'll send from when you start. You get a short email back when they arrive.

What if I forget to send photos, or there's no new job?

We'll send you one short reminder for photos. On Plus, your page doesn't go quiet either: after a few days with nothing new, we post a look-back from one of your earlier jobs, using photos you already approved, or a seasonal tip card for your trade, like a fall checklist or signs it's time to call, with your logo on it (and your license number, if you're a contractor). Real job photos always come first.

Do my photos keep their location data?

No. We remove location data from photos before anything is published.

Posts

Who writes the posts?

We do. They sound like a contractor, not a marketing robot, and name the job and the town where you did it. A real person checks every post before it goes live.

Do I approve every post?

By default, yes. We email you the post exactly as it will go up. Reply APPROVE, or tap Approve in the email, and it goes into the schedule. Want a change? Reply and say what. Nothing posts until you say yes. If you'd rather not be asked each time, tell us.

What goes on every post?

Your logo and your colors, and your name on every promo post. For a contractor, your license number too: most states require it on home improvement ads.

Will you make claims about my business?

Only ones you can back up and tell us about, like insured, bonded, certified or years in business.

Do you write reviews or testimonials?

No. We don't write reviews or testimonials. Ever.

Do you use stock photos?

Never on your job posts, and never passed off as yours. Your job posts use your photos and nothing else. On Plus, the seasonal tip cards that fill a quiet week use a licensed stock photo as a backdrop. They're tips for homeowners, not a job you did.

How often do posts go out?

Three posts a week from your photos, on a schedule, one of them a short video reel. On Plus and Pro, four a week, two of them reels.

What's a seasonal promo campaign?

On Plus, a short run of posts planned ahead of each season and pointed at one goal, like booking spring decks: a "now booking" post, your best past jobs from that trade, and a seasonal tip, spread over the first four weeks of the season. You see and approve every one.

Plans and billing

What's the difference between Core, Plus and Pro?

Core is $195 a month: Facebook and your Google listing, 3 posts a week from your photos (1 of them a video reel), with your name (and your license #, if you're a contractor) on every promo post, and your own free-quote page. Plus is $295 a month and adds a fourth post each week (2 reels a week), Instagram, seasonal promo campaigns planned ahead, quiet weeks filled with look-backs and seasonal tips, and a monthly report. Pro is $595 a month: everything in Plus, and we reply to your Google reviews, keep your Google profile current and professionally photograph your work every quarter. All three are month to month, no contract.

What do you do on Google?

Every plan posts to your Google listing, so it never looks abandoned. On Core and Plus, running the listing itself, the reviews, hours and questions, stays with you. On Pro, we also reply to your reviews and keep your hours, services and photos current.

How do review replies work on Pro?

You add us as a manager on your Google listing. When a review comes in, Google lets us know, we write a reply in your voice, a person reads it, and we post it under the review. A reply never offers a discount or a refund, never argues and never makes anything up. A review of three stars or fewer gets a careful read before anything goes up.

What's the Pro photo shoot?

Once a quarter we come out and professionally photograph one of your finished jobs, with the homeowner's signed OK. The photos become your posts, and you can use them to market your business: your pages, your website, print. We keep the copyright. The shoots are in person, so Pro is for contractors within driving distance of Huntingtown, Maryland. Not sure you're close enough? Ask.

What's my quote page?

Every plan comes with a free-quote page in your name at postmarketed.com/q/your-name: your logo, your colors, your license number if you're a contractor, your phone and a photo of your work, with a short form. Your posts end with the link. When a homeowner fills it in, the request comes to your email with their phone and email, so you can answer them. Rather not have one? Tell us and we leave it off.

What's in the monthly report?

On Plus and Pro: what went out, how it did, and how many quote requests came from your quote page. Every post in it links to the live post, and the report says where the numbers come from.

What's the job pack?

Send photos from a finished job and get five finished posts back within one business day, one of them a video reel, with your logo, your colors and, for contractors, your license number on them. You put them up yourself. Per job, whenever you want one. No subscription. It's $100 a job. How it works.

How do I pay?

By card, through a Square payment link we send you after you say yes. You put in your own card. Core, Plus and Pro bill every month from the day you sign up. The job pack is one payment per job.

Am I locked in?

No. Month to month. Say so and we stop.

Who owns the posts and photos?

You do. Photos we take on a Pro shoot are the one exception: we keep the copyright, and you can use them to market your business.

Pages and access

How do my pages get connected?

You add us to your Facebook Page through Facebook's own Page access settings. You never give us a password, and you can remove us any time.

What do I need for Instagram and Google?

Instagram is on Plus and Pro: it needs to be a Business or Creator account, linked to your Facebook Page. Google is on every plan: your listing needs to be verified, and you add us as a manager.

How do I stop?

Tell us and we stop. Then remove us from your Page settings and from your Google listing.

One photo. One free preview.

Send us a photo of your work from this month. We'll turn it into a finished post with your name on it (and your license #, if you're a contractor), and show you exactly how it'll look on your page. Like it? We'll post it and keep them coming.
